Im not very political but I do think theyre goin the wrong way about things.

Hell I work in a government department, so we get a lot o news an stuff on the intrenet about goings on, and I saw a while ago that theyre makin it so ex convicts get put to the front o the job queues.

As apparently givin em an "equal" chance at gettin a job will stop em re-offendin.

So now, a good average guy, goin to look for a job at a jobcentre, will now havto suffer being lower priority to someone whose just come out of prison.

lol.

We haven't had a member of the cabinet resign due to drinking problems. The person in question was Charles Kennedy, the former Leader of the Liberal Democrats. (stabbed in the back by his own shadow cabinet) He resigned not because of his drinking problem, but due to the sharp decrease in confidence he held within his own party, and the fact many of his MPs signed a motion saying they would resign from his shadow cabinet if he didn't resign. Despite all his wrongdoings, Tony Blair is one of the most successful Prime Ministers we've had. There will never be a Premier that has full support from his electorate, but his authority is slipping, as Gordon Brown's is growing. He has a small majority in Parliament (67) meaning that only 34 of Labour MPs have to vote against his Act to reject it. These are turbulent times, The Tores have a new leader in David Cameron, just as right-wing as the rest, but good at hiding it. We have a double-act as PM, because Gordon Brown has more power than the PM, and the Liberal Democrats are still finding their parliamentary feet.

I wouldn't say Tony Blair is useless. If he was useless, would he have been voted Prime Minister for the third time? No, of course not. He's a far better option than any Tory. The tories only care about the higher class and the privileged. Labour is the party :).

I don't know much about UK's politics, but I personally feel that Tony Blair is currently one of the greatest leaders in the world today. (Better than Bush)

I'd take Blair over Cameron or Campbell(possibly, look's that way) any day of the week. The fact of the matter is, people are finally realising that New Labour is getting old, fast, some of these motions they are looking to pass are way past the socialist/liberal ideology of yester-year & are looking more conservative than anything. Keep doing this & Labour will go down the shitpan with a bump.

Urgh. There's lots of things about the UK government I really don't agree with. I can't be bothered writing a load at the minute.

But well. I think some decisions Tony Blair has made haven't been the best.. =/..

Tony Blair does listen to the aveage guy. The Labour party do listen to the average guy. Labour goes and the tories come in. They won't listen to the average guy. They take care of the rich and the privileged and that's it.

Yea, if you were living in the mid-1900's....

Funnily enough since then, the Tories have changed there political ideology & it's worked....*cough* Thatcher *cough*

@ danster: Name me ONE 'stupid' promise Tony Blair made, without using ANYTHING to do with the Iraq War(even then, we did get rid of a repressive regime in the country where free speech wasn't even heard of in the last 20yrs).

The last Conservative government was a farce. John Major lmfao.

Thatcher shut down the pits. Most of my families livelyhoods. I'll be singing and dancing when that old cow snuffs it.

iraq war is always the best point to bring up, my cousin went out and worked and risked his life for a cause which was fake, and i dont appreciate the fact that our governemtn and our country would allow such a stupid thing, everyone wanted the troops to come back home, but the governemtn wouldnt allow it. so they dont listen to the average guy when it is most important.

I pretty much agree there.

My music teacher is part of the TA, she's a corporal. And she was away in Iraq for 6 months the other year. We missed her a lot, and our music diminished while she was away. When she came abck we were all really relieved.

The guy at the end of my road is going out to Iraq soon. I don't see why they're still sending our troops to Iraq. I thought it was over?..

See you can't even find anything to scrutinise the Govt for so you instantly jump back on 'Iraq War trail'.

Why is the Iraq cause fake?

I'm sorry your music teacher left Fender, but I think the re-building of a democracy is more important than learning 'why McFly are shite' love.

The Govt isn't corrupt! That sentence is...err....complete bullshit.

@ Fcuk: I agree John Major was one of the worst PM's ever, but since then the Tories have really changed there ideology & Cameron is very liberal on a lot of policies.

Erm. How dare you say that to me?!

I know McFly are shit, to be honest. And I'm not complaining my music tuition suffered, because she was fighting, but I really cannot believe you said that to me.

And for you information. I don't learn about f'king MyFly in my music lessons, I learn how to pass my grade tests in playing the clarinet.

David Cameron is nothing more than a snivelling, clever man who know's how to work the media. He's just as right wing as th rest. Academic selection in schools, policies changing daily, moving his party further right in Europe....liberal my ass

The point of representative government is that we elect who we want to run the country. Are you really in favour of unqualified germans running our country? Hereditary power is so worn, it's not viable in the 21st century. The people have the ultimate say, cos if they don't like the government, they vote them out. If, however we had your queen thing, we'be in the $hit.

theres been some bad comments in this thread but that wins it. 'suck a**' your not american, any1 that use's the word 'suck' from england should be laughed at, and thats what democracy's about, people have a say whos in charge and nowt else, thats how it should be, or we'd all be voting or everything, and britains 64% chav, can you imagine some of the rules!!! and the queen does over look everything!!! She should be scrapped really, tek all her money off her and give her a council house in burnely i rekon.

and I agree with essix owl, Music's a wank gcse, well done to your teacher, realising that your clarinet is not as important as oil.

Firstly, nobody cares what you lot think of a Music GCSE, or a-level, or anything. Music is a beautiful thing to learn, don't let these fooooooooooooooools get you down.

I'm afraid to break this to you, but England isn't 64% chav - and whoever/whatever gave you that idesa is stupid. The queens role is ceremonial. She has to sign a bill to become law, but she can't say no. The royal family bring into britain much more money than they get... She's only allowed into the house of Lords to make speeches written by Tony Blair, she can't make laws, and most of her sovereign power is owned by....our democratically elected Prime Minister, Tony Blair... so, when you think about it...you're wrong.

I apologise in advance if I type badly, my 'nob eyes' (as so delicately put) makes it hard to type... You're wrong, because you said that the queen overlooks everything. She does not. Her role is purely ceremonial, a lil' bit of signing, and nothing else.

The sad thing is, that the fact you describe things as 'gay' is a testament to the failings of the current education system. I can assure you that i am heterosexual (that mean straight, just in case you don't know.) Why don't you run along and talk about something you understand? Like sexual urges towards ones mother.

The small minority of chavs is hugely outweighed by educated individuals, and people who generally take an interest in the wellbeing of one another. We wouldn't end up with 'shit laws' - the truth is, somebody would still have to draft law...wouldn't be the chavs, would it? Referenda for every issue would bring about voter apathy, and the amount of people voting would decrease evry time, meaning that government would collapse.

so....

I really don't see what gives any of you the right to critisize my choices and decisions in a thread about politics.

So what if I enjoy music.? Playing music is something that not everyone has, and it's not easy. But I like it. It doesn't give you the right to have a go at me for it.

I don't go around shouting off about what you do and how I don't approve.

This isn't the place where I should fight to prove myself. So just stop it. But thank you to those who decided that they wouldn't ridicule me. It is appriciated.

we have a prime minister who , well u know, his useless lol.

youre free to think what you like and all that, but would you mind giving some genuine reasons for hating mr. blair??

i have a feeling you would hate anyone who was PM, just because you like to complain without any actual knowledge. damn that's annoying.
people hate Bush and Blair becuase it's the fashion, or because they disagree with a decision on their part, like going to war in iraq. it doesnt make someone a bad politicion to go to war.

i'm not a particular fan of Blair, but i have a lot of respect for the guy. he's not so bad. i'm not a fan of his party either, but i don't think we were ready for a radical change to Howard's Tory Party.

anyway, i hope you can give me some reasons why you hate Blair. dont just hate politicions for the sake of it.
