ive just started to get my legs waxed and i went for the second time today. does anyone else get it done or do they just shave?(or do they do nothing?!) if anyone gets it done, did you find it was really painful the first time, and then it didnt hurt as much the second time?

It depends on the day..haha. If I have something big coming up, like Prom or a wedding or something I'll get um waxed, but if it's just an ordinary day I'll shave.

i leave mine the way they are, and i suspect that most of the guys on here do the same. Not necessarily. A lot of my friends are very athletic (swimmers, cyclists, runners) and they all shave/wax their legs. As I am too lazy to get serious in any of that, I also leave mine the way they are - although, when I went through a swimming phase, I did shave them once.
Peaceout,
Mamfy

LMFAO bob!!! Hah.
I once knew this guy who was a police officer, and he's like the hairiest guy .. EVER, lol. He closely resembles an ape. Honestly. He was drunk with his police friends at a Christmas party, and someone bought him a waxing kit, lol, and he waxed a patch on his arm. One of the other guys pulled it off and he didn't feel a thing because he was so bladdered. He had a big rectangle bald patch for like, 2 months +.

Oh man. That reminds me of my friend Steve.
We were at a friends pool party and sitting on the table was that chemical cream stuff that takes the hair off....Steve decided he'd put it on his nipple. It lasted like...45 seconds on. He started yelling and whining to get it off.

August 16th '05, 06:12 PM
I started using Veet.
It works really good, dosen't hurt, and only takes about 4 or 5 minutes.
It smells bad, but it's worth it.

August 16th '05, 06:13 PM
Is veet wax? or something else...
xXxI.Got.Them.Emo.EyesxXx
August 16th '05, 06:16 PM
It looks like shaving cream...You spread it on your legs and let it sit for 4 or 5 minutes...Then you have this little razor thingie, but with rubber blades on it. You kinda act like you're shaving, but you scrape the cream off and the hair is gone.
Mamfy
August 16th '05, 06:19 PM

I bought veet all excited about never having to shave again.
My dreams were quashed as soon as I used it :P
My hair must be really coarse/stubborn, because the hair removal creams just don't work for me :( I get odd hairs gone, but big patches left. Lmao..
And then she tried an epilator.. :O

Waxing is the best! I've been going like every 8 weeks for 2 years now! The first time it hurt like a bitch but then after that, you barely feel a thing. And it makes your legs (or whatever body part you get waxed) look so sexy and smooth! And plus it makes the hair finer and not grow as often and doesn't grow back all prickly, like with shaving. So by the time I'm 30-40 I'll have no hair in unwanted places anymore and I won't have to wax anymore!!
I even got a brazilian once. That was an interesting expierence. It didn't hurt as much as I thought though...getting waxed, really toughens you up, ya know?
I also use an epilator..
...but I doubt anybody's reading this far into the thread so I should just shut up now.
Mamfy
September 18th '05, 11:59 AM
I agree with you bri!
And stephanie, I wax too, but what is an epilator like? It pulls the hair out doesn't it? I have always wondered what it felt like!:D

I agree with you bri!

Yeah it pulls your hair out at a really quick speed. It's like 20 people quickly plucking at your legs. It can be bad if you don't use it right though. It can be just like shaving and rip the hairs out instead of pull them out from the roots. And sometimes you end up with lots of ingrown hairs.
And it feels different when used on different body parts. It absolutely kills when you do it on your arms where as it doesn't hurt as much on your legs.
Mamfy
September 18th '05, 12:42 PM
You shouldn't waxz your arms though!

Hair is used as an insulator. It keeps you warm by trapping in air. Thats why when people get cancer and they have to have chemotherapy and they lose theor hair, they are really cold, because theu have no hair to trap in the warmth.

But why can you wax your legs but not your arms? Does it have the same affect when you wax both or is it worse to wax your arm hairs then it is to wax your legs?

so shudnt it b the same thing for waxing ure legs then?
i wax both my arms and legs, ive been waxing for about 3 years now.. and now i only have to really wax like 3 times a year, my hair is mostly gone:D
i really envy my mum, she has no hair on her arms and legs at all. cos, she went travelling for about 5/6 yrs, and whenever she used to eat, she used this pit like thing, like a bbq effect, and basically the heat has burnt all her hairs off. and now shes hair-free!!
lazering is really gud, i get lazer treatment done on my upper lip. it doesnt hurt at all, it feels like a warm tingling sensation, quite relaxing really.

And I know what you mean...my mum has noooo hair on her arms and legs as well!! It's incredible! I must have taken after my dad...:(:(
And how long does the lazering thing last for? I've always wanted to get that done but for some reason mum won't let me. Is it expensive? And can you get it done on your legs and bikini line as well? And would it have the same affect as waxing...like become nice and soft and all that?

September 18th '05, 01:34 PM
well, it takes time, eventually after each session it will grow bak less, bcos basically the heat is weakening the hair roots. gradually the hairs shud become finer and a lot less of it, so it is a bit like waxing, but less painful. the price depends on how much hair u have, how strong the laser needs to b according to the thickness of ure hair, and the size of the area u want it done on. mine was £10 pounds a session, but i hav it done once a month. now it costs about £12-16, cos my hairs are thinner now. yh, u can get it done on ure legs, and i think (but im not sure) that u can get it done on ure bikini line.

Lazer treatment lasts alot longer. After a few treatments, the hair is just gone. Waxing is just temporary.

ha, i use to wear them every single day, but now i jsut wear normal undies, i dunno why i stopped wearing them but eh, i didn't find them uncomfortable at all.
i just bleach my arm hair's instead of waxing/shaving them, cos then it just looks stupid when they start growing back.

I shaved my arms when I was 10, my hair grew back slightly thicker and darker. It aint good, lol, but I won't do it again! And you're right mamfy, hair is an insulator.
Girls shave, wax, epilate and laser, but I ask you all one question - why?
It's so effeminative to have hair. Practically seen as manly. But it's natural. So why do women go to extremes - sometimes - to rid themselves of what they see as effeminine and/or unsightly hair?
Stephanie
September 20th '05, 02:20 AM
Girls shave, wax, epilate and laser, but I ask you all one question - why?
It makes me feel more comfortable with myself when I'm hairless and it makes my legs so silky it's just so nice to touch! I could not live without my wax!!
Lazer treatment lasts alot longer. After a few treatments, the hair is just gone. Waxing is just temporary.
Does it make your legs look all silky and sexy like waxing does though?
