we did about drugs in careers/tutorial thing in school today and i decided to make a list of the reasons why i don't do drugs, here goes:
- I'm not stupid
- I want to continue to live
- I've still got my health and want things to stay that way
- I don't have any desire to want to try something that damages your body + mind and makes you feel funny
- I have no reason to want to enhance my life (physically or mentally)
- I have no desire to smoke/inject/take anything (or eat mushrooms...yuk)
- I don't want to get addicted to anything
- I don't want to waste my money
- I don't want to risk my life for the sake of a few kicks / having a laugh / feeling high
i'm sure there are many more reasons why i don't, but that's enough for me!
what do you guys think? i'm looking for a good argument about drug users being stupid!

Il never preech about drugs because Iv never taken them, how can you say its just a kick if you never experienced it?

that's the worst thing you could say if you think they're bad! you're saying try them and then decide whether you like it or not, and you're saying don't try to stop others from doing it if you haven't experienced it youself!
i can say it's 'just a kick' because that's all anyone seems to be able to say when i ask them why they do it, they just say 'it makes you feel good', 'it's fun' and 'it makes you see zombies'

It's only a kick, because the high feeling doesn't last forever, does it? There's always the coming down period.
Plus, to hallucinate is scary enough when you're ill, why do it on purpose?

Well, a lot of drugs are hard to find and then when you do find them they are hell expensive and if you buy them off the streets, they're usually not pure and just filled with all these chemicals that are REALLY bad for you...as if the drug itself isn't doing enough damage.
And it would SUCK to be addicted to ANYTHING...like can you imagine not being able to cope another day/hour without a hit?
I've never tried pot but I'd kinda like to though...not to get addicted or anything just to try it and see what it's like to be stoned..
Hope that doesn't make me a hypocrite!

A guy from the pub I know who is 50 now and looks a lot like Whistler from Blade lol, he's a heavy drinker and probably tried every drug possible, even horse tranquiliser stuff that made him think his lamp had turned into a rhino and made him be stuck in the bath for 12 hours straight because he couldnt move lol.
But through all that he's probably the nicest politest harmless guy you could ever meet, never causes trouble for anyone or anythin at all, would only reccoment others doing what he does if they really want to, if not then he'd tell em not to, which is fine, all that is probably bad on his own health but he causes no trouble for anyone else so its acceptable with what he does in his own time.
The opposite of this is the pillhead chavs and the wankers who hang about hurting and robbing people for kicks and drug money, theyre probably assholes anyways but the drugs also double the negative effect, its because of people like this that really make takin drugs and stuff bad, they want assasinating tbh.
For myself, I aint bothered about em tbh. My views for others are that I wouldnt reccomend em to anyone but they can do what they want with them as long as theyre not just doing it to look good, don't cause trouble for others because of it. I've posted similar stuff in the debates forum topic about em.

I would never advise anyone to take drugs, but I would never preech to anyone about drugs, ultimately it's down to the person taking them, and unless I really care about the person I wont stop them from taking them.

well obviously it's important to care for individuals close to you, but also we should be wanting as many people as possible to not do drugs. the more common the problem is, the more likely people are going to have the chance to try it out.

Doing certain drugs and other things can greatly increase your chance of having a mental illness; especially if you're in close relation with someone that already has a mental illness.

why particularly if you're in close relation with someone that already has a mental illness?

Well, I know it does with Schizophrenia. I did a report on it once, as my dad and aunt have it.
I know it has something to do with upsetting the chemical imbalance in your brain, causing you to develop it, or things like it. And if you're related to someone that has a mental illness, you're already at a pretty good risk of developing it.
Here's a little bit on it : http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/schizophrenia/AN00106
There's tons more information online you can find, and offline I'm sure.

Ok, after reading your first post fully, Fuck you, by calling me an "idiot", you just called for almost everyone you hang around with to be attacked. Get screwed if you think you're coming to nottingham and staying with me :)
Did you invite me here purely to get me arguing and pissed off or something?
Seriously, it's fucking amazing you keep telling me not to do something that you've never even experienced and don't have the SLIGHTEST CLUE what is like.
You say allt his shit like it's a "hit" and so on, trust me, it feels nothing like any of you expect.
I fully research every drug I take, and am pretty much completely aware of how much it's affecting me, how it affects me (for example, on the odd, once or twice a year that I take E, this works by cutting some receptors in your brain... yes, physically cutting them... so that all the happiness stored in your mind is released at once)
Yea, I'm addicted, that's something I don't like. But, you know, I can get off drugs whenever I want, I go for a week or so when I feel like it.
OH YEA!!! SHIT!!! I'm at uni. Doing Computer Science (Games Technology) and i'm getting a 2:1 without trying in the slightest.
All the people who're currently in the unit... could you tell me if you expect alot of them to really get anywhere? And I don't mean just a career or whatever, that's piss, I mean ever live properly? do more than the same bullshit you do ALL THE FUCKING TIME , go to the pub, go home, sleep, work, pub, home, sleep, work, pub, home, sleep.
yea... have fun with that.
See ya Ben. If you wanted to stay friends, you shouldn't have linked me here.

God, drugs are not illegal because they ruin society, there illegal to keep the government running, you legalize heroin, your going to have half the population not giving a "shit" about anything apart from when there going to get there next fix, and how there going to get there £500 a week to pay for it. Also you can't class drugs as one thing. lets face it a highly addictive drug like heroin is nothing capered to a couple of spliffs of home grown cannabis. It's each to there own, as much as there shouldn't be people preaching about how "good" drugs are, there should also not be people doing the opposite. In my opinion alcohol is highly worse than cannabis, alcohol creates violent moods, affects sight and balance and is a high risk of physical and mental damage. Cannabis gives you what most would called a "chilled high" unlike most other higher drug. It doesn't effect you in the way that you don't know what's happening, you can see what your doing, see where your walking, control where your walking and doesn't cause deaths too intoxicated deaths from driving and pub fights. If your going to have your opinion on anti illegal drugs and look at some of the more homely legal drugs first. Preaching doesn't work, if someone's going to take drugs there most likely going to take them no matter who says what, you should teach them to practice safe drug use and the effects of each individual drug to the body and mind. that way people have there own right to chose. Thanx much.
