Well discuss whether or not you are going to Uni.
I am undecided right now but if I do go it won't be till my early 20s. i need a good few years out of education to let my brain vegetate first.

I'm going after i finish College (pending my exam results, obviously) If i didnt learn for a year or so my brain would probably shut down and i'd find it hard to go back into education, its best to get it all over and done with in my opinion.

Nope.
Just paid the entrance fee to train for an MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer). I start in a month or so, I had to set back the date because I really fucking need a new laptop before I bother to start. This is a heap of crap. The course should last around a year, bearing in mind I will be keeping my full-time job, and only be doing the course (home-learning) for about 3-4 hours a day. If I left my job, I would be doing it for around 16-18 a day, which would end up taking much less time. Sense prevails, however. I need money.
Training is much more recommended than University with me. I hate the learning in classes thing, it always held me back.

Plenty of daft jobs over here for students. :P
Screw getting it all done with in one go. Been in education for like 15 years. :/ Need to mellow down. :/

Will be dual enrolling (taking a class at one while still in high school) at a local one next year, and then going to a proper university upon graduation.

Well, I don't really have a choice when I go, but i'm definately going to Uni. Hopefully Manchester, doing the 5 year Medicine degree. If I go straight after college, i'll have completed my degree and be in work by the time im 23/24.

I went straight after sixth form, I'd have loved a gap year, but I would never have got back into learning if I had. It's hard enough to get back into it after the impossibly long summers.
Hopefully I'll get a chance to travel once I'm out the otherside.

Meh, I don't want a gap year, i've already travelled ze world, so there's no point in me having a gap year, it would just mean i'd get out of uni one year later.

Pssh im at Uni curently, doing my first year in Social Anthropology/Archaeology.
Considering your first year counts for nothing towards your degree in most institutions you can afford to really mellow down like. Its nothing like the work load you have at A-level, even if you do choose to do the additional recommended research.
What are any of you planning to study?
nyx
December 1st '07, 02:21 PM
I disagree, although I guess it depends on what you study. I do history, granted the first year didn't count, but I still had to do a fair bit of work. Its not all the time like A Level but around deadline/exam time, theres so much to do.
I'm in second year now, and the workload is insane. I think thats partly though cos you do more other things at uni, like go out more, sports etc, and you are always around your friends, so work gets crammed into a smaller amount of time.

July 1st '08, 11:40 PM
I'm not planning on going but if needs must to get into a career I want then I will. I don't really have much faith in the whole uni thing anymore, anyone can go nowadays, it's nothing special and it certainly doesn't make you stand out from the crowd. I'm a hard grafter so I'd much rather get to where I want to be by working my way up the career with good old fashioned hard work.

Once I've done my A-Levels
Hopefully I'll go :)
I wanna do Medicine; then work for a few years as a Doctor
then go back and train as a Forensic Pathologist
It's something like 6 years for the medicine degree and another 2 for the pathology one
Hopefully....

July 8th '08, 10:56 AM
I was going to do forensic pathology, but there was this really annoying girl who fancied me that was going to be in my classes, so i thought 'Hell no!' and changed all my A-level subjects, lol.

well i'm currently in year 10, which in aus is like 2 years from the end of high school. and i have no clue what to do with the rest of my life, like most other people in my grade. all i know is i'm finishing school in year 12 and traveling. then i'll come back and decide. far too many people that live in this area get stuck here and never see the world.

I used to be rate up for uni, but I'm having so much fun this holiday I'm not sure if I can be bothered anymore. I'll see what my results are like in August and if there not good enough to get into the unis I've applied to I wont be that upset at all.
