What do u think it should be? do you think that 16 is the right age?

Personally I think it should be 18.

I think before you answer this you should look at the question in a different way. This isn't "what age should it be ok to have sex" this is "at what age can a 40 year old have sex with"...

Do you honestly think it should be legal and acceptable thing for a 40 year old man to have sex with a 16 year old girl, a schoolgirl?

Your thoughts....

I reckon 16 is fine.
Not many 16 yr olds would have sex with a 40 yr old, and anyway thats old enough to make your own decisions and all.
But this whole thing, should be reinforced more. Its seen more as a guideline, not as a law.

18 would be a more appropriate age imo. I mean, it's legal to have sex before drinkng alcohol? I think they both have upmost responsibility needed, yet there's a two year age gap, the gap between a school kid and legally an adult.

Some people will inevitably have sex before the age of consent, like with everything, but I think if the age was heightened, it would prevent more teenage pregnancies, though these days the amount of 13/14/15 year old girls having babies is horrific. It's backwards. If it carries on, this generation will be dominated by unqualified women, because they dropped out of school before their GCSEs because they had a baby or two and couldn't stay on. It's alright, going to college and taking extra GCSE exams and stuff, but it's not likely they'll go on to do academic subjects in further education, which is what you need to get top class jobs, and someone needs to do them.

It's like a knock-on effect. The age just starts getting younger and younger, and it's rediculous. Anyone thinking what it was like say.. 100 years ago? Girls married and having kids at like, 13 or something. We, as a nation, progressed. Now we're going backwards.

So, I think by heightening the age of consent, it would help in the growing number of teenage pregnancies. And also, thinking about the statement of a 40 year old man, it makes sense to make the age of consent when girls are labelled as a 'legal adult'.

Nah, alchohol is good as 18.
Fact is that no one gives a shit about the age of consent.
If u really wanted to do it, than u'll do it.
But when it comes to alchohol and stuff, people will wait. Cause its illegal to buy it and illegal to sell it to people under the age of 18 so there are more restrictions.
